About
Providing understanding and engagement in Town and Country Planning
Navigating the planning system:
I have increasingly seen communities and individuals struggle to get to grips with the fast-changing world of planning in the UK over the last 30 years. My aim is to provide clients with an understanding of the legislation, policies and regulations underpinning the processes of the planning system and to help them achieve the best possible outcomes, from advice on individual planning applications to evaluating the impact of an emerging Local Plan or Government Guidance.
I am passionate about the principles behind planning for growth and the control of development, whilst protecting the environment and creating attractive places to live. There is an expanding need for homes to cater for the ageing population, formation of additional households and those wishing to get on the housing market. The requirement for infrastructure and services should be planned into new development to prevent strain on existing facilities. Neighbourhood planning is a way that communities can start to tackle these issues.
How I can help you:
Since 2011, I have helped many communities with their Neighbourhood Plans, providing a tailor-made package of help. This can include attending meetings and training groups of people, writing technical evidence and policies, researching background information, and any other help that is needed.
I provide a service advising clients on the best ways to ensure their voice is heard. From responding to planning applications to making formal representations on Local Plans, acting as agent for them and liaising with the Local Planning Authority.
Researching new areas where clients are considering relocating to and advising them of possible future development, and subsequent impact on a potential property purchase is one of my expanding areas of work.
My local authority experience enables me to work for private clients, businesses, local authorities and Town and Parish Councils.
Testimonial
Sally provided us with expert planning advice and input at a critical point in our plan preparation. She redrafted some policies following the pre-submission consultation comments, and reordered and refined text before the draft plan underwent its health check. This proved invaluable. Sally also prepared the Basic Conditions Statement, as this was beyond the skills of our group. I would highly recommend her.
